Sydney & Zach’s Love Story

“Zach and I met through church. He became the person that I went to church early just to see. One day he met me at the coffee shop, paid for my coffee, and spent over an hour talking and listening to me. When the date was over I jokingly apologized for “talking his ear off,” Very seriously, Zach looked at me and said he loved listening to me. Right then I wanted to marry him. I haven’t stopped wanting him since.

One night we went to a local college basketball game. We both had so much fun, we sang Hey Ya by OutKast and Allstar by Smashmouth. That night, January 18, 2016, Zach asked me to be his girlfriend.

On July 18, 2020, Zach and I wanted to celebrate our four and a half-year anniversary of dating. We had not been able to go on many dates because of COVID, so we decided this date was going to be a fancy one. Little did I know I was falling into Zach’s plan. Zach picked me up, and on the way to his truck my sweet neighbor, Ms. Penny, asked us where we were going. I told her that we were celebrating our anniversary. She reminded me that we took prom pictures in her backyard the first time she met Zach. She asked if we wanted to take some pictures before our date. Zach said we had some time, so cluelessly I grabbed Zach’s hand and made my way to Ms. Penny’s beautiful garden. I was in awe of the flowers and greenery. Then I saw a package on a stone bench. Inside was a scratch-off map. He said the map was for all of our travels as a married couple. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. The perfect evening didn’t stop there. We went on our date and enjoyed our time together, just the two of us. Once we finished eating, Zach and I walked down to a local mural to take pictures. While we were there he pointed out that our dance teacher, a previous dating adventure, was at his studio. Zach suggested that we tell him since we were so close. In the old building, our friends and family patiently waited to celebrate our engagement. That day was such a dream.”

On June 5th, 2021 Sydney and Zach got married at Sydney’s Family Home (Hopkinswoode).
